Instant Orthodontics with Porcelain Veneers

By Frank Avason, DMD on February 01, 2019

Porcelain veneersCrooked teeth and minor spacing issues are some of the most common complaints that people have regarding the appearance of their smile. While these issues can be corrected with traditional orthodontics, adults are often hesitant to undergo such a lengthy and uncomfortable treatment process. Fortunately, many of them may be ideal candidates for instant orthodontics.

Instant orthodontics relies on porcelain veneers to conceal cosmetic flaws, including minor misalignment problems and crooked teeth. Dr. Frank Avason III offers instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers to give our Denver, NC patients a faster way to dramatically improve the appearance of the smile.

Will Instant Orthodontics Correct My Bite?

It is important for patients to understand that this is a cosmetic procedure that will not actually shift the teeth or correct the bite. Instead, instant orthodontics treatment uses porcelain veneers to hide minor spacing issues and give the appearance of straight, even teeth.

Because this treatment only addresses cosmetic concerns, patients who have severe malocclusion problems that impact the health or function of the smile are not good candidates for this treatment.

Instant Orthodontics Treatment

Patients can expect straighter looking teeth in as little as two dental appointments. The first dental appointment will focus on designing a set of porcelain veneers that will meet each patient’s unique needs, as well as preparing the teeth for veneers placement.

When porcelain veneers are ready, a second dental appointment will be scheduled so that the veneers can be put in place.

Porcelain veneers are completely customizable by size, shape, and color. Dr. Avason will design veneers that will improve the appearance of your smile, while blending in with any untreated teeth.

Once design specifications have been made, Dr. Avason will prepare the patient’s teeth for veneers placement. To create space for porcelain veneers, a small amount of tooth enamel will be filed off. After the teeth have been reshaped, Dr. Avason will take dental molds so that fabricated veneers will fit securely and comfortably.

It typically takes a couple of weeks for porcelain veneers to be fabricated, at which time a second and final dental appointment will be scheduled.

Prior to placing the veneers, Dr. Avason will do a final fit test. If necessary, minor adjustments can be made. The surface of the teeth will be etched slightly before adhering the porcelain veneers with a dental compound. Finally, a special light will harden the compound and complete the bonding process.

Benefits of Instant Orthodontics with Porcelain Veneers

Instant orthodontics offers a fast and simple solution for patients with minor misalignment problems. In just a matter of weeks, we can completely transform the smile.

This is an advantage over the typical 12 months of treatment required for traditional orthodontics. Even more, porcelain veneers improve the smile without metals, brackets, or wires, all of which saves the patient the potential discomfort of treatment.

By concealing crooked, poorly spaced teeth, porcelain veneers give patients the confidence to share their smile with others.
